Betsy DeBrakeleer, Clinical Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy Department, presented at the Maine Recreation and Parks Association Conference on April 7, 2010 at Point Lookout resort in Northport.
DeBrakeleer  provided an overview of the evoluation, design, benefits, and implementation of the Universal Recreation program which is a partnership between the UNE Occupational Therapy Department and the Biddeford Recreation Department.  The innovative Universal Recreation program is designed specifically for children with disabilities and has more than doubled in the number of participants during the recent Spring 2010 session.  Four UNE OT Level I students and two Citizenship students assisted in facilitating the program.
DeBrakeleer is seeking UNE students from other UNE programs and the Citizenship class to assist in implementing the program next fall semester.  Please contact her at # 221-4110 or if you know of interested students.
