The University of New England and eight other institutions in the region have announced we will establish a new athletics conference to better meet the needs of our student athletes. The change is effective in the 2011-2012 academic year. In the coming year (2010-11), we will continue to work with our current conference, The Commonwealth Coast Conference, to ensure the success of all our students, coaches and staff.
The nine institutions (which include UNE, Curry College, Endicott College, Gordon College, Nichols College, Roger Williams Univ., Salve Regina Univ., Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Western New England College) will meet in the coming weeks to establish by-laws for our new conference. We believe this change will benefit students and the university because our institutions share a focus on student-athlete success and a commitment to standards for competitive play.
