Dear UNE Community, Thanksgiving is around the corner and UNE's Annual Food Drive, Helping Hands, is taking place once again! With the wonderful volunteers and donors from the UNE community, we were able to raise over 26,000 of food to donate to seven location soup kitchens and food pantries in Biddeford, Saco, Kennebunk, Dayton and Lyman. With your help, we may be able to reach our new goal of 40,000 pounds of food to donation this coming holiday. The final collection and distribution day of Helping Hands will take place in Decary Dining Hall on Tuesday morning, November 8th, 2011. If you would like to donate, you are welcome to drop by and see all the excitement and student involvement in the dining hall. *We will have Helping Hands Volunteers go to each academic/office building to stop by at each office to collection donations starting at 9am on November 8th*. If you live on campus and would like to donate, please bring your donations to the dining hall. We will take any non-perishable foods or money donations; every $1 donation buys the local pantries SIX (6) POUNDS OF FOOD! Another way to donate is by going to your retail dining locations, like the Hang and purchase Helping Hands cookies! If you would like to volunteer, just send an email to alam1@une.edu, we are *still looking for volunteers for Tuesday*, November 8th to help with collection and distribution, any time you can give would help tremendously! If you would like more information, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your continuing support!
