UNE Multicultural Mentor Program Information Session/Orientation

The UNE Multicultural Mentor Program is a program offered through the Office of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity that places UNE college mentors with multicultural English Language Learner high school students attending after school programs at Deering and Casco Bay High Schools in Portland.  UNE Multicultural Mentors will support ELL students on both academic and college readiness and understanding and navigating the college application process. 
The mentoring program will begin October, 2011 and last the academic school year through May.  UNE student Multicultural Mentors may participate as volunteers, work study students (if eligible) or as part of their Citizenship course requirement for community engagement.  Transportation to Portland will be provided 1-2 days a week or students may take their own vehicles. UNE Multicultural Mentors must commit to 2 mandatory pre-trainings and a minimum of 10 site visits during the school year.
