A presentation by students and faculty of their transcultural immersion experience at the Ghana Health Mission in March and August of 2010 This collaborative effort between the University of New England and the Ghana Health Mission exposes students to the process of cultural sensitivity through acculturation while providing enlightenment to health care delivery in another culture. Health Professions students and faculty who participated will present the experience in this case-based offering that highlights an “endemic disease” local to the area of Sekondi. Innovative approaches to cultural immersion serve as an impetus for culturally-attuned education and health care practice. Presented by UNE's Center for Community and Public Health, the InterProfessional Education Collaborative, College of Pharmacy and the Center for Global Humanities. A light lunch will be provided. Faculty are asked to notify Anne Manzo in the WCHP Dean's office (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you will have a large group (more than 5 students) attending.
